Distance to downtown: 20 minutes / 23.9 km via Deerfoot Trail.

Transit connection: Busses currently connect residents to Somerset LRT Station on the Red Line and to the 302 BRT, both taking residents to Downtown Calgary. The future Green Line LRT route will also connect the community into Calgary’s light rail system making access to the rest of the city easier and more efficient than ever.

MCKENZIE LAKE SHOPPING AND AMENITIES

There is no shortage of shopping, entertainment and amenities nearby when buying a McKenzie Lake home for sale. This community is also connected to Calgary’s bike path network, making it very easy to access Fish Creek Provincial Park, a jewel of Calgary’s green spaces. This protected green space won’t be far from your doorstep for a run, cycle, or evening stroll. This space is one of the highlights of living in Calgary for all – and you’ll have it as your backyard! This park would probably be enough for the explorer in you, but if not, you can follow the bike path up the Bow River and the many amazing parks that line it.

MCKENZIE LAKE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION

The lake is run by the McKenzie Lake Residents Association and not all residents in the community’s boundaries have access to the lake. McKenzie Lake’s community association offers a variety of programs to residents. With a litany of programs offered to those who choose to buy McKenzie Lake real estate, there is no shortage of community-based youth baseball, soccer and hockey programs, dance classes, martial arts, exercise classes, church groups and more offered.  Pre-school and after-school programs are also offered. The community’s outdoor skating rink is popular during winter months.  It should be noted that not all residents in the community boundaries have access to the lake.

The McKenzie Lake Residents Association is a non-profit organization that works year-round to  provide a wide array of recreational services, programs and facilities for its members and their guests. In addition to the lake, members have access to tennis courts, basketball courts, a beach volleyball area, and a toboggan hill.
